As a child, I attended Sunday School at a large protestant church. I had lots of ‘youth fellowship’ friends and learned many spiritual values that are still part of me. But something was missing. After leaving home, I didn’t go to church for 40 years. I knew I was a spiritual person, but not someone who believed in God, Heaven or Hell. A close friend who is gay, told me about a church that openly welcomed him! So, the next Sunday I went to church at UUFoM. Soon I realized it meet my needs for a spiritual connection, so I became a member. That was many years ago and I’ve missed only a few Sunday services since then. I value our 7 Principles about life, commitment, justice, spirituality and especially the ‘web of all existence’. I like knowing that my UU friends may be following a different path, but it’s okay. We support eachother on life’s journey.
