Circle Dinner FAQs

Circle Dinners – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Circle Dinner?

A Circle Dinner is a small, informal potluck dinner hosted in someone’s home. Each dinner brings together a “circle” of people—often a mix of members, newcomers, and visitors—so you can get to know others in a relaxed, social setting.

Do I have to be a UUFoM member to attend?

Not at all. Circle Dinners are open to anyone who is curious about our fellowship or simply looking to connect with others. You don’t have to be a member to participate.

What happens at a Circle Dinner?

People gather, share a meal, and enjoy conversation. There is no agenda, no program, and no religious discussion unless it comes up naturally. The focus is on getting to know people you might not otherwise meet.

Where are Circle Dinners held?

Circle Dinners are hosted in the homes of fellowship members. Once you sign up, you’ll receive the address and any details you need from the host.

What should I bring?

Each guest brings a dish to share, such as a side, salad, or dessert. The host will let you know what kind of dish to bring and if there are any dietary considerations.

How many people attend?

Most Circle Dinners includes at least 6 people..

Is there a cost?

There is no cost to attend beyond bringing a dish to share.

What if I don’t know anyone?

That’s completely normal—and actually the point! Circle Dinners are designed to help people meet others they don’t already know well. Hosts make sure everyone feels welcome and included.

Do I have to talk about religion?

No. These dinners are social, not religious. Conversation can range from hobbies and life experiences to books, travel, or whatever naturally comes up.

How long does a Circle Dinner last?

Most dinners last about two to three hours, but hosts are flexible and understand if you need to leave earlier.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up here or at the fellowship. If you’re interested and aren’t sure how to sign up, just reach out to office@uufom.org.
